Jared Kersner was named the third Head Coach in Johnstown Tomahawks organization history in May of 2024. After graduating from Becker College in 2010 with a B.S. in Exercise Science, Kersner embarked on his coaching journey. During his time at Becker, the Maryland native was an integral part of their NCAA Division III hockey program, serving as team captain in his Junior and Senior seasons. Before attending Becker College, Kersner honed his skills during his final season of Jr. Hockey in 2006 with the Rockets Hockey Club. Following graduation, he transitioned seamlessly into coaching, achieving remarkable success with AAA teams. His coaching prowess led teams to multiple league championships and appearances at USA Hockey Nationals.
In 2013, Kersner co-founded the Skipjacks Hockey Club, which swiftly gained national recognition at the U16/U18 level. The Skipjacks’ impact extended beyond the rink, facilitating player advancement to prestigious NCAA DI and DIII schools, as well as elite Jr. A leagues such as the USHL, NAHL, BCHL, and NCDC. Complementing his coaching endeavors, he co-founded Pinnacle Performance, a specialized training program catering to elite youth, junior, and professional hockey players during the off-season. For the past two seasons, Jared has served as the Head Coach and General Manager of the Rockets Hockey Club in the NCDC, further solidifying his reputation as a respected leader and mentor within the hockey community.
Jared resides in York, PA, with his wife Brandis, and their two daughters Caris and Caroline.
